Purpose

Wilson aims to create artwork that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking. Images that are dystopian and utopian. Ideas that blend the aesthetical and ecological.

An interest in architecture and the evolution of eco-friendly building is evident in her work. The juxtaposition of space and nature with urban construction is reflective of her upbringing in New Zealand and her nine years living in the mega-city metropolises of São Paulo, Brazil and Shanghai, China.

She believes an artist must reflect the times and the time to be an environmentalist is paramount. "I want to contribute to the conversation and try to figure-out constructive ways to push our societies forward, in harmony with nature. Acknowledging what has been done before and adding to it in a way that is meaningful now," says Wilson.

When she paints her worlds within a seed Wilson is innovating and designing our future architecture to emulate natures systems, patterns and strategies to seek sustainable solutions. These new futuristic buildings are juxtaposed with the old and familiar, creating a tension that we know exists. The BioPunk series focuses on the implications of biotechnology. It’s meant to draw comparisons between nature, machine, architecture and man.

Of her style Wilson says, "I am interested in a combination of illustration, graphic design, surrealism and symbolism. “I'm searching for the perfect balance between good design and painting”.
